Our Aims and Values

'A remarkably cohesive and vibrant school. Bubbly children that are nevertheless polite and well behaved; 'It can be noisy,’ acknowleged one parent, ‘but with laughter not screaming.’ Privileged, yes, but spoilt, absolutely not. These children are developing a strong sense of social responsibility and couldn’t be better prepared for the complex global environment they are growing up into.'  Good Schools Guide May 2016

There is one rule that is fundamental to all the Thomas’s schools, to Be Kind, which underpins how every member of the school community, pupil, teacher and parent, is expected to behave, in school and out.

At Thomas’ we aim to engender an ethos of kindness, encouragement and understanding, in which pupils’ strengths are developed and their weaknesses supported, so that each child is challenged without being inhibited.

We have high expectations of our pupils, that they should make impressive progress as a result of their own hard work, the best efforts of their teachers, the judicious support of their parents and the encouragement of their peers.

Our core values are about respecting ourselves, each other, the environment, the country in which we live and we aspire to be givers rather than takers.

We would like every pupil to become the best that he or she can be because we offer a rich and broad education, which inspires enjoyment, learning and achievement. Whilst we are proud of our record of senior school entrance and scholarship successes, we place a greater emphasis on our set of core values, which include kindness, courtesy, confidence, humility and learning to be givers, not takers.

We hope that our pupils will leave Thomas’s Kensington with a strong sense of social responsibility, set on a path to become net contributors to society and to flourish as conscientious and caring citizens of the world.
