Safeguarding

Thomas’s Schools fully recognise their responsibilities for Safeguarding and Child Protection and expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share in this commitment. All children and young people need to have adults around them making sure they are kept safe from being harmed by other people or hurting themselves.

Thomas’s Schools have policies and procedures in place to deal effectively with child protection and safeguarding issues, which include tackling radicalisation and extremism, together with recording and monitoring processes.

To promote a safe environment for pupils, Thomas’s employs a strict selection and recruitment policy which includes all statutory checks on staff and regular volunteers including Enhanced DBS (disclosure and barring service) checks.

All teachers and support staff at the school have a statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils at all times and receive regular training at a level appropriate to their safeguarding responsibilities. Other safeguarding training is attended by relevant staff and leaders. The training is monitored and comprehensive records kept by the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) at each of our schools and the Kindergarten.
